In November 2019, Planet Underground TV crews traveled to Kankakee, Illinois to cover NPL and Nicor Gas working on a major infrastructure upgrade in the area. The job was part of a larger restoration project that Nicor Gas participates in to ensure that aging gas pipelines are replaced after a certain amount of time. A gas pipe on this particular job site had been in the ground since the 1930s! From excavating, to welding, to conducting X-ray imaging on thousands of feet of pipe, Nicor Gas demonstrated some essential methods for ensuring their natural gas delivery systems stay in good condition.
