The Impact of Metrotech 810
Inventor Earl “Pete” Peterman turned the locating industry on its head when he submitted his claim to the U.S. Patent Office on July 31, 1980, for an “Apparatus for Determining the Distance to a Concealed Conductive Object Which is Radiating an Alternating Current Signal”. Still in use 30 years later, the 810 locator, featured in this video, was the first electromagnetic instrument providing simultaneous peak and null readings, eliminating the need to rely on null method alone. Learn how Peterman helped eliminate the possibility of human error with commonplace locator features today like automatic gain controls and digital depth estimates.
